Stop the Bleed training teaches people how to control life-threatening bleeding in emergency situations before professional help arrives.Training focuses on three key techniques:
- Applying Pressure: Using hands or materials to apply direct pressure to a wound.
- Packing the Wound: Filling the wound with gauze or cloth to control bleeding.
- Using a Tourniquet: Properly applying a tourniquet to stop severe bleeding.
Developed by and for the United States military’s Combat Casualty Care Research Program, the Stop the Bleed training program is now administered through the Department of Homeland Security. Training is open to anyone – civilians, medical and emergency personnel, and organizations of all kinds. Its chief aim is to empower people to act quickly and effectively in emergencies, potentially saving lives.
