We are privileged to be in a coordinating role with the homeless outreach programs of Summit and Medina Counties.
There are so many wonderful people contributing their time, talent, and treasure to prevent and end homelessness in our communities.
We are leveraging local and national resources for funding and assistance.
Our volunteers treat everyone with dignity and respect as we work together to develop an accessible and sustainable response that ensures homelessness is prevented in our region of Northeast Ohio.
We have developed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) utilized by our security officers while on duty at the Community Support Service Emergency Overnight Shelter in Akron. It is a living document that provides guidance, direction, and resources for our officers to ensure guests of the EOS receive the best possible service while under the authority of our security personnel.
The Akron Emergency Overnight Shelter is currently open 7 pm – 8 am on evenings when the temperature is 15 degrees F or below. In addition, free shelter, food, and clothing are available at:
- CSS Transient Overnight Shelter (TOS)
- CSS Emergency Overnight Shelter (EOS)
The VA/CSS Homeless Outreach and Intake Center of Summit County brings supportive services for persons experiencing homelessness under one roof. The Center offers comfortable seating, showers, and laundry facilities.
The Homeless Outreach Center is located at 111 E. Voris Street, Akron, Ohio, along with the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.
The Center serves individuals who are experiencing or at risk for homeless, have symptoms suggestive of mental illness and/or substance use disorder, and are not already in treatment. If a person does not meet these criteria, our outreach workers will attempt to connect them with other agencies and services that can help.
